Ruby
Chavez – Varsity Assistant Coach
Ruby Chavez
enters her eight season with Mt. Carmel's softball athletic program.
Former Mt. Carmel Varsity Head Coach and Rancho Bernardo Junior Varsity
Coach Ruby Chavez made her return to the Mount in 2004. Ruby Chavez is
no stranger to the Mt. Carmel softball program. She began her coaching
career at Mt. Carmel in 1991 as the Freshman Head Coach. The following
season she was hired as the JV Head Coach and remained there for two
years. It was in 1994 when Ruby joined the Varsity Staff as the First
Assistant. Ruby ended her coaching career 1998 so she could enjoy
watching her four children compete at the high school, college, and
professional level. Coach Ruby devoted her time and efforts to many
head coaches and athletes over the years and looks forward to continuing
her devotion as she returns as the Varsity Assistant Coach once again.
That devotion has been rewarded as San Diego Section CIF Coach of the
Year – 2007.
Before Ruby entered high school athletics she coached youth sports;
which included Baseball, Basketball, and Softball. During her own high
school career she played Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, and Track.
She earned top honors in each sport. After college, she continued her
education at Los Angeles Junior College. She competed in Basketball,
Volleyball, and Badminton. Ruby has strong family values, loves dogs,
and enjoys working with high school students. She is very excited about
her return to Mt. Carmel and holds high expectations for the Sun Devils. |
